How do I connect my own domain to my store?

Add your domain under My Store → Domain, point one DNS record at BTAB, and HTTPS is issued for you automatically.

TL;DR: Go to My Store → Domain, click Add Custom Domain, type your domain, then add one DNS record at your registrar. BTAB issues the HTTPS certificate for you — there is nothing to buy or upload.

What do I need first?

  • A published store. A custom domain on an unpublished store will not get a certificate — publish first (see How do I publish or unpublish my store?).
  • A domain you already own, bought from any registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, VentraIP…). BTAB does not sell domains.

Which DNS record do I add?

Add one of these at the company you bought the domain from. The exact values are shown on the Domain page under Point your domain at BTAB.

You want to useRecordHostValue
www.yourstore.com (recommended)CNAMEwwwsites.btab.app
yourstore.com (no www — a "root" or "apex" domain)A@37.27.59.243

Most registrars don't allow a CNAME on a root domain, so for yourstore.com use the A record. TTL 3600 (1 hour) is fine.

How long does it take?

DNS changes usually take effect within 15 minutes, but can take up to 48 hours. BTAB re-checks your domain automatically every few minutes; you can also click Check status on the Domain page. Once your DNS points at BTAB, the HTTPS certificate is issued automatically within a few minutes and the status turns Live.

What can't I do?

  • One custom domain per store.
  • You can't use a btab.app address as a custom domain — your free yourstore.btab.app already exists.
  • A domain already connected to another BTAB store can't be added to yours.

Do this

  1. Publish your store (My Store → Publish).
  2. My Store → Domain → Add Custom Domain, enter the domain exactly as you want it (with or without www).
  3. At your registrar, add the CNAME (for www) or A record (for the root domain) shown on the page.
  4. Wait a few minutes, click Check status. When you see Live, your store is serving on your domain over HTTPS.

If it stays on Waiting for DNS, read My custom domain isn't going live — what do I check?.
