How do I bring my reviews from Shopify or Judge.me?

Upload the review export from your previous shop. Reviews match your products by SKU, handle or name, keep their dates, and show as "Imported".

This guide is for store owners. Not you? Supplier guides

TL;DR: in Sales → Reviews, use Import reviews from your previous shop. Upload a Judge.me or Shopify Product Reviews export (or any CSV), check the preview, then import. Reviews keep their original dates and show an Imported label.

Which files work?

ExportWhere to get it
Judge.meJudge.me → Reviews → Export
Shopify Product ReviewsShopify admin → Apps → Product Reviews → Export
Any other CSVNeeds a rating (1–5), a date, the review text, and a SKU, product handle or product name

The file can be up to 8 MB and 10,000 reviews. Split a bigger export into parts.

How are reviews matched to my products?

Each review is matched to one of your products only, trying these in order:

SKU → product handle (web address) → product name

If nothing matches, or two of your products share the same name, the row is not imported and is listed in the preview with its line number. Download that list, fix the SKU or handle in your file, and upload it again.

What happens to imported reviews?

  • They're published straight away with their original dates, and they count in your star rating.
  • They show an Imported label ("Reviewed on our previous store"), never "Verified purchase", because they weren't bought on this store.
  • They show only on your store. Other stores that sell the same product never see them.
  • Your replies come across as your public reply, and photos are copied (location data is removed).
  • Judge.me spam and unpublished Shopify reviews are skipped.
  • You can still hide one for a listed reason, as with any review.

What if I import the same file twice?

Nothing is added twice: rows already imported are recognised and skipped. You can also Undo a whole import from the list of past imports, which removes only the reviews it added.

What this means for you

  1. Export your reviews from your previous app.
  2. Upload them in Sales → Reviews and read the preview: check how many are ready and how many didn't match.
  3. Fix any unmatched rows in the file and upload it again, until the reviews you want are in.
