How do I control how my store appears in Google results?
Website \u2192 SEO sets the page title and description Google shows for your store, with a live preview and an AI draft button.

TL;DR: Website → SEO (the page is titled Search Engine Listing) has two fields that matter: Page title and Meta description. The preview at the top shows how the result will look. Keep the title under about 70 characters and the description under about 160, or Google will cut them off.
What do the fields do?
| Field | Where it shows | If left empty |
|---|---|---|
| Page title | The blue headline of your Google result, and the browser tab | Your store name |
| Meta description | The grey text under the headline | Your store tagline |
| Keywords | Nowhere visible — search engines largely ignore these | Nothing |
Product pages have their own title and description under My Products → Descriptions; this page is for the store as a whole.
What makes a good title and description?
- Title: what you sell + where you are, e.g. "Handmade Ceramic Tableware — Melbourne | Fieldstone Ceramics". Your store name is appended automatically on inner pages, so don't repeat it.
- Description: one sentence for someone deciding whether to click — what you sell, who it's for, one reason to choose you. Write it as a sentence, not a keyword list.
- Counters turn yellow when you pass the length Google usually displays.
Can BTAB write it for me?
Yes — ✨ Generate with AI drafts a title, description and keywords from your store. It doesn't save; review, edit, then click Save. If you publish your store with these fields empty, BTAB fills them in for you in the background the same way, and never overwrites text you wrote.
How soon does Google update?
Your storefront reflects the change immediately. Google re-reads your pages on its own schedule — typically days to a couple of weeks. See How do I know if Google can see my store? to watch it happen.
