Paying for an order at a Btab store
Checkout is a guest checkout. Pay by card, or by bank transfer when the store offers it. The order summary shows the GST included and the delivery cost before you pay, and the amount on the Pay button is the amount charged.
This guide is for shoppers. Not you? Store owner guidesSupplier guides
TL;DR: You do not need an account. Choose a way to pay, check the order summary, and press Pay. The amount on the button is the amount charged. Your confirmation email is your receipt.
Ways to pay
What you see at checkout depends on the store. The common ones:
- Card. A credit or debit card, processed by Stripe. After you press Place order, the card form opens and the button reads Pay with the amount. If the store's payment account offers Zip, Klarna or Afterpay, the card option says so, and you can pay later with one of them on eligible orders.
- Direct bank transfer. You place the order first; the store arranges payment. When the store has bank details set up, checkout shows them with the words use your order number as the reference. Otherwise the store will be in touch.
- The store's own methods. A store that sells under its own business can offer a bank deposit, pay on pickup or cash on delivery, or a method of its own. They appear at checkout when the store has turned them on.
Prices, GST and delivery
- Prices are in Australian dollars.
- When the seller is registered for GST, the order summary shows the GST included in the total.
- Delivery is calculated before you pay. If the store cannot price delivery for your address, checkout tells you and no order is created.
Who you are paying
Most stores on Btab take payment through Btab. The seller of record is then BTAB ECOMMERCE SERVICES PTY LTD, and the line on your card statement reads BTAB COMMERCE. Your confirmation email names it, so you can match the charge.
A store that sells under its own business is the seller itself. Its name, and its ABN when it has one, are on your receipt.
If something changes while you pay
- An item sells out. Checkout names it (<item> is sold out, or Only N left) and asks you to remove it or go back to your cart before you pay.
- The amount never moves. Your cart is locked while the order is placed and paid, so the Pay button always shows the order's own total. Edit cart on the pay step cancels the payment and releases the items.
- A card is declined. You see the card company's message and can try again or pay another way.
- You leave before paying. Your cart is kept. If a payment did not complete after a redirect, checkout says so and keeps your cart.
What this means for you
Check the order summary before you pay: the items, the delivery cost and the GST line. Keep your order number; it is the reference for a bank transfer and the key to your order page. The email Your order <number> from <store> arrives once the payment is in — see Tracking your order.
