What happens when something is returned?

The Returns and performance page shows what came back, why, and what happens to it, plus how your orders are going. These numbers never cost you a fee.

This guide is for suppliers. Not you? Store owner guides

TL;DR: Open Returns in the menu (the page is called Returns and performance). Each return shows the item, the reason, who is responsible, what happens to the goods and its status. The numbers at the top show how your orders are going. BTAB does not charge suppliers for returns or late shipments.

Your returns

Each return shows:

  • Reason: for example Damaged, Faulty, Not as described, Wrong item, Arrived late, Changed mind or Never arrived.
  • Who pays: who is judged responsible for the return: Supplier, BTAB, Customer or Not decided. This is a record, not a charge.
  • What happens to it: Return to you, Back into stock, Discard, Customer keeps or Not decided.
  • Status: Open, Approved, Resolved or Cancelled.

If an order is cancelled or refunded, the amount for it no longer shows as owed to you. On your Statement it moves to Reversed. A return changes what you are owed only when the order is refunded; then that order moves to Reversed.

How your orders are going

The numbers at the top cover the period shown on the page (normally the last 90 days):

  • Shipped late: not shipped within the set number of days.
  • Cancelled
  • Ran out after sale: it sold, and then it was not available.
  • Returned

Each number shows how many orders out of how many. They are there so you can see how things are going and fix what needs fixing. They do not cost you anything. If something looks wrong, tell us.
