Is Btab right for your products? A checklist for suppliers

A plain checklist for makers and importers: what Btab is, the three ways to work with us, who is a good fit, what we need from you, and how joining works.

You make or import good products. You would like them in more shops. But you do not want to build a website, run ads or answer every buyer yourself.

This post helps you decide, in about five minutes, if Btab is a good fit for you. It goes both ways: we say what we need from you, and what you get from us.

What Btab is

Btab runs online stores for businesses. Each store sells on its own website; Btab supplies the checkout, the payments and a catalogue of products from makers. We call the stores vendors: they find the buyers, and Btab runs the parts behind them: the product catalogue, the prices and the orders.

So there are three of us: you, the supplier, who makes or imports the products; Btab, the platform in the middle; and the vendors, the stores that sell to buyers.

As a supplier, you put your products in once. Vendor stores can then choose them and sell them. You do not build or run a shop of your own.

Three ways to work with us

1. Dropship. Your products are listed in vendor stores. When a buyer orders, you get the order and you ship straight to the buyer. You hold the stock until it sells.

2. Btab buys your stock. Btab orders stock from you with a purchase order and holds it. Vendor stores sell it, and Btab sends each order to the buyer.

3. A vendor buys your stock. A vendor store orders stock from you with a purchase order, sent through Btab. You ship the goods to the address on the order. The vendor then holds that stock and sells it.

You can mix them. For example, a vendor store can keep your best sellers in its own warehouse and sell the rest of your range by dropship.

Are we a good fit?

A good fit:

  • You make or import your products.
  • You have stock, or you can give a reliable lead time.
  • You want more sales channels, without paying for marketing.
  • You can give clear photos and correct product details.

Probably not a fit (yet):

  • One-off or made-to-order items with no set lead time.
  • Products that cannot be sold legally where they would be sold.

We work mostly with furniture and office products today, but any legal product can join.

What we need from you

Your business

  • A legal, registered business. You do not have to be in Australia. Australian businesses give their ABN.
  • One contact for orders.
  • Bank details, so we can pay you.

Each product

  • Your price: the amount you need to receive for one item.
  • At least one good photo. More is better.
  • A title and a description.
  • Its options, such as colours and sizes.
  • The packed size and weight: the length, width, height and weight of each box as it ships. A product that ships in more than one box needs each box. We use these to work out delivery costs.

How you work

  • Correct stock levels.
  • A clear dispatch time, for example "ships in 2 business days".
  • The areas you deliver to.
  • Returns and warranty as required by the Australian Consumer Law.

A whole catalogue at once. You do not have to type each product. You can upload your full range as one spreadsheet (CSV) in your supplier dashboard. If your stock changes often, the dashboard can also read an updated stock file from you on a schedule.

What you get

  • You set your price. With dropship, you are paid that price for every item that sells and is not refunded. When Btab or a vendor buys your stock, you are paid for the stock on the purchase order.
  • You can see what you are owed. Your statement page shows it, order by order.
  • More shops, no extra work. Your products reach many vendor stores, with no ad spend and no shop to run.

Payment timing and method are set out in your supplier agreement.

How joining works

  1. Sign up as a supplier.
  2. Add your products, one by one or in one spreadsheet.
  3. We review them. We check the photos, the details and the price.
  4. Approved products go into the catalogue.
  5. Vendor stores start selling them.

If we send a product back, we tell you why. You fix it and send it again.

Common questions

Who sets the shelf price? Btab sets one selling price for each product, the same in every vendor store. So vendors do not undercut each other, and your products do not end up in a price war that cheapens your brand. You set your own price: the amount you receive. Your price stays the same, whichever store makes the sale.

Who looks after the buyer? The vendor store that made the sale looks after its buyer. You look after your products: you ship them, and you deal with faults under your warranty.

What happens with returns? Returns follow the Australian Consumer Law and the terms in your supplier agreement. You are told about a return, with the reason.

Can I leave? Yes. Tell us, and we take your products off sale. Orders already placed are still shipped.

Is there a lot of setup? No. You need a business, products with photos and prices, and a way to ship. A spreadsheet of your range is enough to start.

Do I pay to join? Your terms are in your own supplier agreement. We talk them through with you before you sign.
